SUMMER WARS サマーウォーズ

SUMMER WARS (サマーウォーズ) is the best animation of 2009 so far. I have never seen anything like it. I like the storyline, soundtrack, visual design, animation and characters. I kinda like scientific fiction genre but none of them ever show the power of Mathematics like this one. It may look a little bit fantasy but it shows some parts of possibility in reality.

Opinions about Thailand and enlightening idea

(Some parts of this entry are only memo of what is considered as classified information respectively to thinkers.)

I just talked 3 hours straight with my friend doing his Ph.D. in UK. We kind of talked all sorts of topics like Thai political crisis (what is going on, possible causes, possible outcome etc.), how to promote pure science in Thailand, what can be done in Thailand etc.

We both agreed that the situation in Thailand is deteriorating because of politics. As I mentioned many times here, we believed that all problems are due to lack of education, educational promotion, corruption, selfishness, unfairness, politicians and unreasonable course of actions by people.

This year’s conference of Thai students in UK shows that Thailand have no strength and full of weak points. We kinda agree that Thailand has no future if there are still no development in education and society. It is ironic that many of those with power and authorities do nothing to prevent the deterioration of society but ones without them seek for the solution. As an agricultural country, why can’t Thailand walk forward? There are many reasons. People know the answers. Nevertheless, nobody cares to resolve them. Even though His Majesty King Rama IX of Thailand stated something like that he will be happy if people are happy, and all Thais love him and want him to be happy, nobody actually tries to resolve the problem.

In our conclusion regarding to Thai political crisis, Thaksin may not be at fault unless he is actually that crazy. Nevertheless he still has to hold responsibility of what’d happened so far because people around him are badasses and troublemakers and all problems and chaos are undeniably linked to him.

After we were done with Thailand’s issues, we talked about what we can accomplish in Thailand that is new and no one in Thailand, and perhaps on Earth, has done. We came up with two solid projects which are related to data analysis, synthesis, visualization, audiovisual, vocalization and auditory. Although that’s all I can say about them, my friend and I still disagree about the scope of work. What we have are not profitable but they are fun and cool to accomplish. They may step into Web-3.0 (semantic-web) boundary but working with text analysis on Thai language is extremely difficult. Let’s see what we can do.

So, in the end, it might be unproductive quarter of 2010 but I have more time to think of what interesting can be done.

Open comment: this year’s Jaturamitr’s official website

Originally, I didn’t want to spend time on commenting about something very stupid. But, after I’ve heard something having been going on about the making of the official website, it made me hard to resist to boldly comment about what has gone wrongly.

This is the copy of the message I sent to staffs of jaturamitr.com and jaturamitr2552.com.

My name is Juti Noppornpitak, a former web master of Debsirin School (2003-2004) and the former chief of operation of Jaturamitr Internet Group (jaturamitr.com). Please note that what I write here is from my personal opinion.

I’m really happy to see people, beside the current students, promoting the league. Yes, I am really happy.

That’s all I can complement about your effort. Now, it’s the time for insults, especially for jaturamitr2552.

First of all, who on earth design and/or develop jaturamitr2552? I’ve heard that this website is official website for this year. Are you really kidding me? Who come up with the idea of using a elementary-school-student level of design on such an important website? This is not a technology exhibition. This website is to inform the visitors about the activities of four schools and the update on the soccer matches.

Assuming I were a visitor, I only need to know what the heck happens. I don’t need to know how fascinating your web development skill is. I mean there are annoying marquee effects everywhere. When you guys designed this website, did you close your eyes? The text is NOT clearly visible. It blends into the background, thanks to your non-sense of colour. The balance of colour is nowhere near usable. The layout is nowhere inaccessibility. The design is also NOT accessible. If I were colour-blind, I would have cursed you. If I were using mobile/text-only browser, I would have damned you. The images used on the website is not even suitable with the design in addition to the suck design.

Oh! And, the stupid screenshot from the another website, especially from Wikipedia. Please…

This level of design just shows how pathetic we are. Thanks to you. We looks all bad, just like an idiot. I hear that you are a part of suan84.com. Correct me if I’m wrong. Your official website is better that jaturamitr2552.com. I feel miserable every single time I read the website. It is just pathetic.

That is the first part, all about the design.

Second, the use of colours.

I can see that blue and pink are dominating there. Do you have problem using the other 6 colours? Do you know the colour code? This website and this league is not all about Suankularb. Please understand that we make this to promote the unity and friendship, not the stupid domination. We should have done it for the students, not only for ourselves and schools. “jaturamitr.com” is so-so but your “jaturamitr2552″ is just far beyond any word describing how suck and pathetic it is.

I wish you could have more positive comments if you care about this kind of detail.

Lastly, this is the worst web design and the worst web development by the 30+-year-old professionals I have ever seen in my life. If you don’t have skills to take on the task, let’s somebody else handle it.

Serious Tension Arose Between Thailand and Cambodia Due To Thaksin

Seven months ago, I wrote an article about Thaksin committing national treason. It was a serious writing but it was just my opinion to the situation at that time.

Today, right after the Thaksin’s official appointment as a Cambodia economic adviser, the Royal Thai government start counter-attacking diplomatically by recalling its ambassador.

Many columnists and senators agree that this is the right approach to protect the dignity of Thai juridical system and the kingdom. Some of them even purpose to increase the diplomatic countermeasure against the Cambodia. In the meanwhile, Cambodia sent 4,000 military personnel near the border and eventually recalled its ambassador to Thailand because Thailand recalls its first. Some columnists also predict that this tension may bring the wars upon the region.

In my opinion, Cambodian government is stupid, just like North Korean. Politicians only think about themselves. This problem is only the darn selfish SOBs like Hun Sen and Thaksin. The citizen of both countries have noting to do with this.

Healthy nature fading away everyday

Usually people blame industries about polluting the earth and causing climate change. No ones ever think that everyone is the root of the problem. I meant human have to share the responsibility.

In the developed countries, everything is to be convenient. For example, plastic water bottles are cheap as the cost of production may be cheap. However, the production of water bottles emits carbon dioxide. This example may be weak. Think about the production of cans. Can’t people just use water container, instead? Can the city provide clean water?

Human is also stupid and greedy. In the car industry, until today, I have no idea why the car companies keep on the production where the demand is low. In the business perspective, mass production may result the reduction in production cost. But, useless or unneeded cars become pieces of mixed useless materials. Not only that, the production of useless cars means the unnecessary emission of carbon dioxide. People don’t think about the consequence, do they?

Although recycling may help reducing the destruction of the nature like forest or water, recycling also emit carbon.

Hence, more production and more waste means more carbon emission. More carbon emission means the increment in temperature. I only wrote on what I could think of. Additionally, I think it is impossible to return the nature back to the way it used to be. Nevertheless, I believe that if we think carefully about everything we use, we could stall the climate change. It is not only for our generation. This is for the future generation.
